Your name?
Some people call me the space cowboy, yeah. Some call me the gangster of love. Some people call me Maurice... yeah, all of that is patently untrue. I go by Jeff.
If possible, your age?
I am as ageless and timeless as a work of art.
When did you start drawing?
When I wa really little. Like, seriously, literally before I can remember.
Which hand do you use for drawing?
My right. I mean, technically, I use both, but the right hand is the one that makes the magic happen.
Which is easier to draw - male or female?
Male. I have a much firmer grasp on the male anatomy (fnarr fnarr).
Which is easier to draw - long hair or short hair?
About shoulder length.
Is it easier to draw the head facing towards the right or the left?
The right. I'm not entirely sure why this is the case, but there you go.
Is it easier to draw the side view of the face or the front view?
I'm most comfortable with 3/4 perspective, so I guess front is closest to that.
What do you have problems in drawing?
Anything outside my comfort zone, which is pretty much humanoid guys in more-or-less the same pose.
What do you like to draw?
Facial expressions, especially weird ones. I usually have a hard time putting the expressions on actual heads, but my school notes are littered with bizarre faces.
Are you a traditional artist or a digital artist?
I draw by hand, then ink digitally. I have a tablet, but my hands are kinda shaky so I still need a lot of practice with it.
Where do you start drawing from?
The ear, then I work my way down.
What is your drawing habit that you are aware of?
I half-ass shading, if that counts. Other than that, I'm kinda a lazy artist and will take shortcuts if I'm getting tired of working on something. Getting better at that too.
Any tips for coloring/shading?
Considering I'm not that comfortable with it yet... the only advice I can give is "save often". I've been screwed by that more than once.
How long does it take to finish a piece of art?
Depends! The Ryker pic I uploaded a little while ago took only a few hours total, while things like the Neverhood pic, Card Cat, and the one with Alkaline Battery Man can span over multiple days of 3-4 hours each.
What music do you listen to while you draw?
Whatever comes up in iTunes, which is usually TMBG, Weird Al, or a video game soundtrack.
How long does it take you to come up with an idea?
Not very. Most of my pictures are of characters I've come up with before, so it's just a matter of "Hm, what would this character be doing?"
Your favorite drawing utensils?
Pencil, then Photoshop or Inkscape.
Your favorite color/the color that you use a lot?
Blue. Go figure.
Your favorite style(s)?
I really admire Bill Watterson's art style, and I was influenced a lot by it growing up. I also really like the style of
What kind of artist are you aiming for?
The kind where I can have fun drawing and end up with something that doesn't look half-bad.
Thank you.
Now please fill in the next columns by writing the names of the artists that match the criteria. Artists tagged must fill in this baton. (TBA note: if you've already done it or don't want to... you don't have to, obviously.
